February 6, 2017 - Watch This Space- February Events! #irishmusic

We were so busy planning our gigs for the last while and traveling to San Antonio and Seattle, we did not post our Events on the Home Page, but they did make it to our Events Page!

That said, here is what is going on in February.. March is still being booked for the Green Season!

February 6th - Irish American Heritage Center


Shapeshifters Theatre presents three black comedies by playwright Martin McDonagh for the next in its staged readings series. The first is “The Cripple of Inishmaan'. 

In 1934 Ireland, a handicapped teenager schemes to attain a role in an American movie being filmed in Ireland. 

McDonagh was nominated for Best Original Screenplay for "In Bruges" and received four Tony Award nominations for Best Play. 

“The Cripple of Inishmaan” is directed by Jude Hansen and is Monday, February 6. The bar opens at 6pm with music by Patrick and Karen Cannady and Friends. Readings are at 7pm and there is a post-show discussion with the cast. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling 773-282-7035, ext 10, visiting www.irish-american.org or at the door.



February 11th - Fannie's Cafe and Bakery

We are happy to be playing Irish music at the lovely Fannie's Cafe and Bakery on Saturday, February 11th 2-4pm and 18th 1-3pm! Stop by and try their delicious food and coffee and enjoy some Irish music with us and our musical friends!

February 12th - Independence Tap

Excited to be returning for some Afternoon Music at the Independence Tap selected Sundays starting the end of January. Irish Traditional with Kilmaley (pipes n fiddle (piob agus fidil) group incarnation! 4:30-6:30pm

Kilmaley, a Chicago-based trio, performs arrangements of traditional tunes on uilleann pipes, fiddle, guitar, and bouzouki.

February 18th - City News Cafe

Coming up at the City News Cafe Saturday, February 18, 2017: 10am-12pm! We will be playing Irish traditional music on uilleann pipes and fiddle on a Saturday morning! Come on by for their great coffee, pastries and truffles!

February 25th - Irish American Heritage Center

PÍOBAIRÍ, a presentation hosted by Patrick and Karen Cannady with Patrick's students and musical colleagues returns in 2017 in the Fifth Province. Sample the pub menu and enjoy live traditional Irish music from 6-7pm 

Tin whistle and piping classes are also available on Saturday afternoons.
