Great Northern Piper's Club Tionol May 2009 St. Paul Minnesota

We play Irish traditional dance music. Jigs, reels, hornpipes, and other tunes from Ireland's West and Chicago's South side, played with love and joy on the uilleann pipes, fiddle, wooden flute, and bodhran.

Our tunes come from the vibrant, living traditions of social dancing and music in Ireland's West and Midwest, a region stretching roughly from the Shannon Estuary to the northern edge of Connacht, and were brought to Chicago by immigrant musicians, mostly living on the South Side. This is raw, gritty, sublime, lyrical, deceptively swift and spare music, the soundtrack to Last Night's Fun.

From February 23, 2010: "...it’s the little things that help you imagine you might be in Ireland rather than Lincoln Park."
